# Qatar World Cup 10-Ball: 7 Filipinos Reach Last 16

*Seven Filipinos and Vietnam's Duong Quoc Hoang take eight of the 16 spots — Biado removes No.3 Sanchez Ruiz, and two all-Filipino ties guarantee two SEA quarterfinalists.*

Southeast Asia will fill exactly half of the last-16 field at the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball, after seven Filipinos and Vietnam's Duong Quoc Hoang survived Tuesday night's [last-32 session](/eight-filipinos-reach-last-32-qatar-world-cup-10-ball) at the Ezdan Palace Hotel in Doha.

Two all-Filipino ties in the next round mean the region is already guaranteed two quarterfinalists on Wednesday.

## Biado removes the No. 3 seed

The headline result belonged to Carlo Biado. The world No. 2 dismantled No. 3 seed Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 11-6 in the round's marquee clash, never letting the Spaniard settle. Defending champion Jonas Magpantay was equally untroubled, beating Filipino-Canadian Alex Pagulayan 11-7, and AJ Manas completed a commanding evening for the favorites with an 11-5 win over Mustafa Alnar — avenging Bernie Regalario's last-64 exit to the same Turkish giant-killer.

## Two hill-hill escapes and an upset

Rocky Tullao and Miguel Salvilla needed all 21 racks. Tullao edged Austria's Mario He 11-10, while Salvilla did the same to Britain's Elliott Sanderson, backing up his derby win over Aivhan Maluto in the morning session.

Jerico Bonus produced the day's seeding upset, toppling No. 15 Wiktor Zielinski 11-9, and Jundel Mazon beat Spain's Juan Carlos Exposito 11-8. The only Filipino casualty was Jefrey Roda, outgunned 11-7 by 2024 champion Daniel Maciol.

Duong Quoc Hoang kept Vietnam's flag flying with an upset of his own, an 11-6 defeat of No. 11 seed Robbie Capito.

## Two derbies guarantee two SEA quarterfinalists

The draw has paired countrymen twice in the last 16: Salvilla meets Bonus, and Mazon meets Manas. Win or lose, two Filipinos are through to the last eight — and Southeast Asia could send as many as six.
