# Spanish Open SEA Watch: Vietnam's Tran Bows Out on Day One

*Tran Xuan Duc's early exit in Gandia ends Southeast Asia's on-table interest, with Austria's Denver Amoyo the nearest remaining thread and no Filipinos in the field.*

The Revora Spanish Open broke off in Gandia on Thursday with 165 men chasing the last Euro Tour title of 2026 — and just one Southeast Asian flag in the field. By the end of the opening day, that thread was already gone.

## Tran's short week

Spain-based Vietnamese cueist Tran Xuan Duc, the only Southeast Asian entrant in the men's draw, opened Thursday morning against Hungary's Alex Habo and fell 9-5. A walkover moved him through losers' round one, but Switzerland's Dimitri Jungo ended his campaign 9-2 in losers' round two, all inside the first day.

His EPBF entry was one of 165 accepted into a field capped at 192 — a draw headlined by ranking leader Wojciech Szewczyk and most of the continent's elite.

## No Filipinos in Gandia

For Philippine fans, the headline is what is not there. AJ Manas — fresh from reaching the [Qatar World Cup final](/filler-beats-manas-13-6-qatar-final-last-filipino-runner-up), where he fell 13-6 to Joshua Filler on Wednesday — is not in the field. Neither is any other Philippine entrant, in the men's event or in the 52-player women's draw that breaks off Friday.

It is a rare blank week for a Filipino contingent that has been a fixture at the big events all month.

## The last thread: Amoyo

The nearest thing left to a Southeast Asian interest is Denver Amoyo — entered for Austria, his surname one Filipino billiards followers know well. The Austrian Pool Tour's No. 1 and a teammate of Albin Ouschan at Hit & Hope Billard Club Vienna, Amoyo dropped his opener 9-2 to the Netherlands' Yannick Pongers before moving through losers' round one on a walkover.

He returns Friday at 16:00 local against the loser of Syria's Delmon Khwaja and Poland's Daniel Macioł — the same Macioł whom Manas edged 11-10 in the [Doha semifinal](/manas-wins-hill-hill-thriller-last-filipino-into-qatar-final) barely a day ago.

## What remains at stake

Gandia is the final Predator Euro Tour stop of the season, and [year-end ranking positions are on the line](https://ncuemedia.com/revora-spanish-open-puts-year-end-rankings-on-the-line). Men play race-to-9 double elimination, shifting to race-to-11 single elimination from the last 32. Both finals are scheduled for Sunday at 20:00 local, with tables 1–3 streamed on the Pro Billiard TV YouTube channel.
