Taduran Stakes Philippines' Only World Title Against Unbeaten Moreno
The IBF minimumweight king makes his fourth defense against unbeaten mandatory Brandon Moreno at Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque on November 7.
The Philippines' only reigning world boxing champion goes back to work this weekend, and he is doing it far from home.
Pedro Taduran defends his IBF minimumweight title against unbeaten Spanish challenger Brandon Moreno on Saturday, November 7 at Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico — a 12-round bout that headlines a stream on Wynn Records Network before the evening's DAZN card headlined by Abraham Perez vs. Yankiel Rivera.
The champion
Taduran, a 29-year-old southpaw, carries a 20-4-1 record with 14 knockouts into the fourth defense of his second reign at 105 pounds. He reclaimed the belt in Japan in July 2024, stopping then-unbeaten Ginjiro Shigeoka in nine rounds, then edged Shigeoka again on a split decision in their 2025 rematch. A decision over previously unbeaten compatriot Christian Balunan followed before Taduran made his U.S. debut in April, knocking out Mexico's Gustavo Perez Alvarez in the seventh round in Temecula, California.
He had hoped to chase a unification with WBA and WBO ruler Oscar Collazo, per Cebu Daily News. When that matchup did not materialize, the mandatory became the assignment. Taduran recently signed a multi-fight deal with Salita Promotions and finished camp at the Knuckleheads Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, flying in with former IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas, per The Philippine Star.
The challenger
Moreno, 33, of Madrid is the IBF's No. 4 contender at 16-0 with five knockouts. He has held the WBC Latino regional belt and arrives off a unanimous decision over Reyneris Gutierrez in Madrid in June, per FIGHTMAG — but he has never fought outside Spain as a professional, and Albuquerque is a long way from home for a first world title attempt.
How to watch
The card streams live at wynnrecordsnetwork.com beginning 4:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. MT) Saturday — early Sunday morning, around 5:30 a.m., in the Philippines — at a discounted price for Filipino viewers, per FightNews. Taduran vs. Moreno is the first men's world title fight carried by the new platform.
The stakes
Taduran holds the Philippines' lone world crown — the same belt picture that anchors our look at Filipino boxing's quiet golden age, coming a week after Carl Jammes Martin's upset of David Picasso. Keep it Saturday night and the unification road through Collazo stays open; lose it, and the country's championship count goes to zero.
